It's Debian, fool

Tue Oct 14 20:36:35 BST 2008

Sigh. Every time I upgrade my install of Ubuntu on my T23 laptop, my wireless network card stops working. This time it appears to be doing it for real: I can get the card talking over an open network, but it refuses to play with either WEP or WPA encryption.

So I thought I'd put Debian on the machine instead and try that. I didn't really expect it to work, since of course Ubuntu is basically Debian-testing with some bells and whistles, but I've been wanting to move for a while and this seemed as good an excuse as any.

Anyway, tonight I've been installing Debian. When the Mactaguester got home she asked me what I was doing. I told her installing Debian on my laptop, but elongating the 'e' sound (as in sheep). She corrected my pronunciation in an offhand manner.
