Law of Unintended Consequences

Sun Jan 11 00:11:30 GMT 2009

A few months back, as my more attentive readers will be aware, I participated in the prestigious challenge of Nanowrimo, which was a good thing in many ways, and well worth the time I dedicated to it.

This evening I discovered yet another way in which Nanowrimo was good: it inspired not only me, but also the people around me. To whit: one of my friends is now in the process of producing a novel of his own. He is not writing at nano pace, admittedly, but nonetheless he is writing, and he attributed this to the inspiration of my nano effort! This is, needless to say, absolutely marvellous. I personally found the Nanowrimo experience very rewarding, and the idea that someone else found it inspirational is rather humbling.

Here's to Duncan, and his novel! I look forward to reading it.
